Memorial service for fallen firefighters

Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, 4:30 p.m.

The U.S. Forest Service has scheduled a public memorial service for the
five fallen firefighters of Alandale Crew 57 for 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5,
2006.
    
 The service will be held in Devore at Hyundai Pavilion at Glen Helen
Regional Park. The location is about 60 miles from Idyllwild.
    
 Directions: From Interstate 10, go west for 22 miles toward San Bernardino.
Merge onto Interstate 215 toward San Bernardino/Barstow and travel 13.5
miles to the Devore exit. Turn left onto Devore Road (Highway 66) and travel
1 mile to the Glen Helen Regional Park on 2575 Glen Helen Parkway.
    
 Crew 57’s Capt. Mark Loutzenhiser, Jess McLean, Jason McKay and Daniel
Hoover-Najera died in the line of duty on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 26
while fighting the Esperanza Fire. Pablo Cerda, who was severely burned,
died Tuesday, Oct. 31. Alandale Guard Station is located on Highway 243 in
Stone Creek, about 8 miles north of Idyllwild.
