Shaw
may be leaving Idyllwild
By
J.P. Crumrine, Assistant Editor
In June, Dr. Emily Shaw,
Idyllwild School principal, may be graduating to a larger school. The
decision will be made at the April 1 Hemet Unified School District
(HUSD) trustee meeting.
If the trustees approve, it will be no joke on the
Idyllwild community. The new position that HUSD officials have
discussed with her would be the principal’s position at Valle Vista
Elementary School.
Shaw admitted that her health has deteriorated
since she began working and living in Idyllwild. Medication has not
improved it and she hopes the lower elevation would return her to
better health.
Shaw had served in Valle Vista as assistant principal before coming to
Idyllwild. She assumed the Idyllwild principal’s role in January 2006
when Diane Cardinalli accepted a district-level position after several
years in Idyllwild.
“I have mixed feelings,” said Bill Sanborn, HUSD trustee. “She is a
great asset to the Hill. She’s knowledgeable, educated and connected to
the kids and parents. She is concerned about the parents’ feelings
toward their children. She cares about the teachers.
“I have the utmost respect for her,” he continued. “As a parent and
Idyllwld community member, I don’t want her to go anywhere.”
