A good day for the Roundtable
By Marshall Smith, Staff Reporter
The Idyllwild Business Roundtable (IBRT) had an especially good day on Friday, April 23, according to facilitator Doug Yagaloff.
IBRT presented their Business Improvement District (BID) Letter of Intent, signed by 28 Idyllwild businesses, to Third District Supervisor Jeff Stone at his regular monthly meeting in Idyllwild. The 28 businesses represent more than 10 percent of all businesses licensed or registered in Idyllwild, and include some of the most prominent in town, covering both inns and retail businesses.
Stone expressed support for the effort and recognized that it would best serve constituents if it were, as IBRT intends it to be, a grass-roots effort. Stone assured IBRT representatives that they would have full access to county resources as the BID proposal proceeds.
Next in IBRT BID plans, is a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 19 at the Caine Learning Center to hear representatives from the Temecula BID discuss the process of its formation and their challenges and successes.
Stone also bestowed significant support for the first Lemon Lily Festival, scheduled for July 16, 17 and 18. Stone committed to adding the festival to his Web site, having the Riverside County Board of Supervisors (BOS) issue an official proclamation, and spreading the word about the festival through the county information network. He invited the festival committee to make a presentation at a future BOS meeting and, most significantly, pledged $2,000 from his discretionary funds to support the festival.
